love dip

One thing I will always miss about Texas is Central Market. It is hands down the best grocery store I have ever been in; from the produce, to the meat and seafood department, to the cheese section, they literally have every specialty item you could imagine. While it is hard to pick a favorite part of the store, the olive and dip bar is up there. Amongst their many dips, Love Dip is on the top of my list, so I had to do my very best to recreate it here in Alabama. This dip is creamy, tomato-y, garlicky, herby and just one of the bests.

I used this recipe in my Picnic Salami Sandwiches, but had to put here, too, since it can definitely be a stand alone dip.

Love Dip (Creamy Tomato Dip)

Ingredients

• 8 oz cream cheese, softened
• 2 teaspoons tomato paste
• 2 tablespoons plain greek yogurt
• 1 clove garlic, minced
• 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
• 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
• 1 tablespoon fresh basil, chopped
• 1 tablespoon fresh cilantro, chopped
• 1 tablespoon fresh tarragon, chopped
• 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
• 1 teaspoon salt
• 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
• 1/2 teaspoon red cayenne pepper

Instructions

1. Combine all ingredients in a bowl. Stir vigorously to meld together. Chill at least 1 hour in fridge. Top with herbs and a cherry tomato and serve with favorite cracker and/or fresh veggies.
